EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

TO OUR PARENTS, FRIENDS AND COMMUNITY SUPPORTERS:
Despite the economic turmoil, Clayton YES! continues to grow by serving more than 3,900 children in 70 locations throughout Tarrant County. The Afterschool Centers on Education and Fort Worth After School programs are expanding by eight centers. We are excited about this expansion as we are providing services in a high school for the first time. With the introduction of full day kindergarten in the Keller ISD, we find ourselves serving children from birth to high school graduation.
The after school care and enrichment services we provide become more critical for our children to receive with each passing year. Quality staff and continual professional development remain our largest challenges. We are constantly looking for exceptional staff and training opportunities that permit the staff to deliver quality programs to the children. To this end, Frankie McMurrey is providing a lot of in-house training on best practices and the 40 Developmental Assets. Our staff has grown to over 270 during the school year. The children and parents who participated in our summer programs had high praise for the variety of activities incorporated into the programs.
The quality and professionalism of our staff is what makes Clayton YES! the leader in the field of after school care. Without the dedicated staffs who work tirelessly daily with the children, we could not enjoy such recognition and success. I appreciate the hard work, sacrifice and “can-do” attitude displayed by the entire Clayton YES! family. It is these attributes displayed by staff--past, present and future—that carries the Clayton YES! tradition of excellence and keeps the agency strong.
I could not ask for more support and cooperation from the communities we serve. Solid working relationships with diverse community organizations and school districts are crucial to our success and delivery of services to the children and families. Tarrant County is truly blessed to have so many citizens and organizations who work for the betterment of our children and our future.
The upcoming year will bring new challenges to the agency. The economy remains a barometer to enrollment and attendance in our programs. We will work harder to increase our enrollment and meet the demands of the communities. Interruption in service due to unexpected conditions such as the Swine Flu may present a hiccup; but I am confident that we have the professionalism, drive and attitude to change any obstacle into a minor inconvenience.
In 2010, Clayton YES! will enter its 35th year of service to children in Fort Worth. We stand ready to continue the fine tradition of quality service and meet the challenges and needs of the community with enriching services for each and every child within our varied programs. We will meet our mission of “providing quality programs during out-of-school time that meet the diverse needs of our communities’ children, youth and families.”

Clayton Child Care, Inc. - The Beginning
Clayton Child Care, Inc. was established in 1975 at Lily B. Clayton Elementary School in Fort Worth ISD.  Its purpose was to support the community’s need to bring more families into the school, and thereby keep the school open. Clayton YES! was designed to provide school age childcare to parents working in the area, and began with just 27 students. We are now 35 years old and serve over 3900 children every year in 70 programs across Tarrant County.
